The winner...stick

The National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, N.Y., announced it has inducted the skateboard, the baby doll and one surprise plaything -- a stick. The 19-member national selection panel said they also decided to induct a plaything that was not on the list of finalists, the common stick. The panel hailed the stick for its ability "to inspire spontaneous play" by allowing children to imagine them as magic wands, swords and other objects.
